If used without goggles, do not stare directly at UV-C tube when on. If you wish to see the light in action, looking at its reflection via a glass common mirror is safe. Reflection from white shiny paper or shiny metal are NOT safe to stare at and will reflect UV-C.
ORIENTATION WARNING: This device does not contain an automatic gravity shut-off switch. Always point the wand downward at the target surface. A warning sticker on the handle reminds users of this critical safety protocol.

General Information And History Of UV-C:
UV-C light, a type of ultraviolet light, has been used for various purposes throughout history. In the early 1900s, UV light was used to treat skin conditions. Later, in 1878, it was discovered that short-wavelength UV light could be used to sterilize bacteria. Since then, UV-C light has been used in various applications such as water treatment, air purification, and disinfection of surfaces. In recent years, the use of UV-C light has gained more attention due to its potential to combat infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The scientific community has recognized the effectiveness of UV-C light in killing microorganisms and has conducted extensive research on its applications and safety.
How UV-C Works:
This 100 years old technology, high-energy ultraviolet UV-C light, breaks the double helix of DNA and RNA, so that bacteria can die or lose their ability to reproduce, and achieve sterilization destroying 99.9% of all pathogens (100% if subject is treated long enough).
The UV-C segment of the light is not visible by the human eye. The bluish glow that can be seen is parasitic light of higher wavelength.
When placed in the specially designed foldable case, Both the UV-C light and ozone (O3) at safe levels will destroy any pathogens and fungi. Recorded test results are provided.
NOTE: Beware of ineffective LED’s devices! Blue LEDs do not produce the 253.7nm (254nm) necessary to destroy pathogens fast. They are used in many cheap units with misleading claims.

Use on Harvest: UV-C Controls Powdery Mildew
Research suggests that UV-C radiation can be an effective tool for managing surface molds on harvested botanicals, including powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca macularis) and bud rot (Botrytis cinerea). Many users utilize the 5W Wand during the drying and curing phase to maintain surface purity. Studies indicate that controlled UV-C exposure (3-6 mJ/cm²) can effectively target these fungal strains without the use of liquid chemicals. Slow scan with wand applied daily for several days control powdery mildew development, can also be used post harvest in the foldable case. Use provided chart for exposure time. For Botrytis cinerea, research indicates germicidal UV light is effective for inactivation.
How to use your 5W UV-C Wand:
Allow the quartz tube to warm up approximately 60 seconds. The tube is at optimal intensity when internal lines/striations are no longer visible (only observe reflection with glass mirror if needed).
Hold wand parallel to the surface and slowly scan the Ultraviolet Light Wand over the surface you want to treat from making contact if a soft surface to 1 inch away (closer is better), (see video).
This UV-C wand is powerful and highly effective, and it can be done as fast as a few seconds; but just to be sure, we recommend slower scan times, specially for the first session, since we cannot see the little critters being neutralized. For best results repeat once more at a different angle to get all crevasses as seen in video.
How to use your 5W UV-C Wand with foldable case for dual action treatment with UV-C and Ozone (O3):
- Unfold the case. Insert the rigid rectangular base board with the shiny reflective side facing UP. (Use aluminum foil shiny side up at bottom if more reflection is desired)
- Place objects needing to be treated in the foldable case without overlapping and in direct line of sight of the light, place wand as shown in photo observing the larger opening for the base of the wand and the smaller opening for the tip.
- Place cover on top of case and turn on the lamp. After 3 minutes, turn off lamp, open lid, physically flip objects over to expose the un-irradiated side, and repeat for an additional 3 minutes (We recommend 3 minutes to make sure of thorough exposure but see minimum times below if in a rush).
- Target Exposure Durations: Maintain irradiation for approximately 60 seconds to achieve a technical dosage of 10 mJ/cm}^2$, or up to 2:30 minutes for a concentrated dosage of 40 mJ/cm (recommended for dense organic matter). Following the initial cycle, invert the items within the treatment chamber to ensure uniform exposure across all surfaces and repeat the process. (10mJ/cm2 can be achieved in 40 sec when lamp has been warmed up)
In case you forget the wand on, it will automatically turn off after 10 minutes.

Warranty does not apply to items dropped, subjected to strong shocks, immersed in liquid, or cracked glass caused by cleaning the tube while still hot.
Please contact us for bulb replacement in case of breakage (tube not warrantied against breakage). We test and inspect every germicidal wand before shipping.
Care and Maintenance:
- DO NOT DROP OR SUBMIT TO STRONG SHOCK: Tube glass is fragile and can break. Contact us if you need a replacement for broken tube.
- DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR ANY LIQUIDS.
- Clean the Lamp: Wipe the lamp when cooled down with a soft, dry cloth. Never clean the tube while it is operating or hot — thermal shock will instantly crack the quartz.
- Store Properly: Keep the lamp in a cool, dry place.
- Charge Regularly: Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- If the unit fails to illuminate after charging, a wall-receptacle power cycle may be required to reset the charging logic board (plugin for a minute, unplug, press & hold power button for a few seconds repeatedly until on).

Why are UltravioletBeams UV-C devices better than others?
Many other wands sold elsewhere use ineffective blue LED lights that do not generate the proper wavelength necessary to effectively destroy pathogens. We make sure that our germicidal devices are made with quartz tubes emitting beams measured at 253.7 nm (254 nm) of the spectrum proven to be effective.
Our devices are powerful enough that we recommend wearing the included UV-C protection goggles during use.
Is the product rechargeable? How long can it be used after each charge?
The product has a built-in 1800mA lithium battery, which can be used for disinfection 50 times (about 3 minutes for each disinfection) after being fully charged, and can be taken along and used anywhere. Charging times will vary depending on charger amperage but in most situations, overnight charging is the easiest and most convenient.
My wand will not turn on, how long should I charge it?
Overnight charging with a quality USB charger is recommended. In some case, when the battery has been completely depleted, the wand will not turn on even after an hour of charge. While charging, the red indicator will be lit and the wand cannot be turned on. If no red light, USE A DIFFERENT CHARGER. When completely discharged, leave on charger for a day or until the red light is off. If no other charger is available and red light does not stay on at initial plug in, unplugging and replugging charger into the wall outlet may reset the cycle.
How long can this ultraviolet lamps last?
The product uses a high-quality tube which has a life of more than 10,000 hours.
Do you sell extra bulbs?
In the unfortunate event that you break the bulb on your 5W Wand, we do sell replacements. Bulb lifetime is about 10,000 hours. Please contact us for more info.
How to use this device?
This wand uses UV-C253.7 nm wave band. When in use, the product is placed 0 inch (touching) to 2 inches (0 -5 cm) away from the object to be sterilized, and slowly sweeps back and forth for 2-3 times for sterilization without deliberately staying for a long time.
How to use your 5W Germicidal Wand with Bag?
Place objects needing to be sterilized in bag without overlapping and in direct line of sight of the light, place wand as shown in photo observing the larger opening for the base of the wand and the smaller opening for the tip. Place cover on top of bag and turn on the lamp. Leave on for desired time, then flip the items in bag so their other sides are exposed and repeat.
In case you forget the wand on, it will automatically turn off in 10 minutes.
Note from Sam: Some other devices boast grills at the bottom but our tests have indicated that items should be exposed on both sides to receive proper UV-C radiation doses.

Where is it made?
Just like all other such hand held UV-C devices, your cell phones, and other electronic devices and everything else, this unit is made in China; otherwise the price would be much higher. Someday we will bring back manufacturing to the USA.
Shipping time?
This item is shipped promptly from our Phoenix Arizona location and normally takes from 2 to 5 days to be delivered. The USPS can get a bit overwhelmed at times and your package may take a bit longer due to their COVID19 measures. We depend on them just like you do. We do not have access to any information other than what the USPS provides on their website. You can use the tracking information that was emailed to you at the time of shipping to find out the whereabouts of your package.
What is the warranty?
We offer a 1 year warranty on this item against any manufacturing defects. The UV tube is made to last for 9,000 hours of operation. Due to the nature of UV-C tubes, the warranty does not apply to items dropped from high or subjected to strong & sharp shocks, immersed in liquid, or cracked glass caused by cleaning while still hot.
How do we test and determine exposure time?
We use a dosimeter made in the USA by UVCense.

Great uv wand and bag combo. Made more sense to get this one over the regular UV-C bags where the light is in the lid. Bag is pretty large and could accommodate all the items that I usually have to disinfect. Very easy to use. Item arrived quickly.
